Bike Parade Decor Part 1: Coffee Filter Flowers

I am so happy that you lovelies wanted a tutorial on all the pretties I made for our goodbye summer bike parade. Since I made a couple of different things, I am going to do the tutorials in three parts: coffee filter flowers, pinwheels & tissue paper peonies.

Today we are going to cover the coffee filter flowers. Not only are you going to love how simple these are to make, but you will more then likely be able to make them with supplies you already have lying around the house {yippee!}

For the coffee filters flowers you will need:

1.) 5 Coffee Filters

2.) Cupcake Liners: 3-4 Regular and Mini Sized Cupcake Liners

3.) Buttons

4.) A Glue Gun

First we are going to make the base of the flower:

You are going to need five coffee filters to make the base.

1.) Flatten one coffee filter. This will be the base that you will build upon.

2.) Take three coffee filters and fold them in quarters by folding a each coffee filter in half & then in half again.

3.) Take two coffee filters and fold them in half

Take one of the coffee filters that is folded in half and glue it to the base. Make sure to glue it slightly more then half way on the base filter {see figure no 1.}

Next, add the other filter that is folded in half. Glue so that they slightly overlap {see figure no. 2}

Now, take the three coffee filters that are folded in quarters and glue them so that each one slightly overlaps the one next to it & looks like the picture below {figure no. 3}

Now it is time to add some color! I actually did the centers three different ways, and will show you how I did each one, and you can choose which style you like the best.

First, you are going to need 3-4 cupcake liners depending on which style you like the best. We have a wide variety of cupcake liners in the shop. However, I really liked how the striped cupcake liners looked. I thought that the patterned sides with the white centers looked really cute on the finished product. However, any of the liners we have would look super cute.
